Progress News Writer - A female clerk working at the Food Fast convenience store in the 900 block of Canada Street was robbed early Saturday.
According to Jacksonville Police Department Lt. Det. John Page, the aggravated robbery occurred at knife point about 4:30 a.m.
“The blade was about 8 to 10 inches long,” Page said. “The clerk described him as a black male, about six feet tall, with a dark complexion and a thin build. He was wearing a red, jersey-type sweater with a hood, and had a white bandanna on his face.”
Page said the robber demanded money from the register and safe, but the clerk was only able to hand over the small amount in the register, because the safe is on a timed-lock system.
After receiving the money, the suspect fled in an unknown vehicle. The clerk was also unsure of the direction he took, according to Page.
“Thankfully, there were no injuries,” Page said.
He urges anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact Crimestoppers at 586-STOP (586-7867).
“Crimestoppers will offer a reward up to $1,000 for any information leading to the arrest of this suspect,” he said.
Persons calling Crimestoppers can remain anonymous, with department personnel assigning a code number for them to use in the event an arrest is made, Page added.
