Obituaries for Sunday, August 18, 2002

- Services for Donald Joe Burks Sr., 60, of Whitehouse are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup.
The Rev. Kenneth Antley will officiate.
Burial will be at Rucker Cemetery in Troup.
Mr. Burks died Friday at a Jacksonville hospital.
He was born May 5, 1942, in Troup to the late Arnold and Ruth Burks.
He was a life-long resident of the Troup-Whitehouse area before moving to Jacksonville.
He was retired from Trane Co. and attended the Azalea Gardens Church of God in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Burks was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Burks, in 1986.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Jane Burks of Whitehouse; sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jackie Burks of Bullard and Bobby Burks of Whitehouse; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Benny Preston of Whitehouse; brother, Arnold Burks of Kilgore; sisters, Wanda Leviness of Vidor and Linda Morales of Dallas; step-mother, Helen Jordan of Dallas; step-grandmother, Buna Burks of Troup; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Glen Emery, Johnny Green, Steven Woods, Barry Reese, Mike Migura and Timothy Smith.

Services for Justin Heath Dover will be t 4 p.m. Tuesday at Oakland Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. William Dollar and R.S. Dyess officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Justin was born Sept. 14, 1989, in Jacksonville and was a student of Rusk Junior High School. He had been a life-long resident of Maydelle and was a member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church.
He was a licensed minister, an avid hog and raccoon hunter, loved rodeos, county music and fishing.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Dover.
His survived by his parents, James and Stacey Dover, both of Maydelle; sister, Amanda Dover of Maydelle; brothers, Caleb, Mackinlay and Matthew Dover, all of Maydelle; grandparents, Lionel and Evelyn Newman and Joyce Dover, all of Maydelle; aunts and uncles, Rodney and Cathy Newman, Mike and Joan Dover, Dean and Lynn McLean, Todd and Sandra Dover and Marty Dover, all of Maydelle, and Nathan and Diann Dyess of Rusk; and Numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be James Newman, Jacob Newman, Koid Dyess, Brian Dover, Tad Dover, Chris Dover and Joey Dover.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
