Memorial services for Mary Eulah Galbreath, 66, of Jacksonville, will be held at the home of Mary Lucille Wright at 2 p.m. Saturday, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Mrs. Galbreath died Wednesday in Jacksonville. She was born Oct. 23, 1935, and she later worked in emergency room admitting. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include her son, Matthew Gideon of Jacksonville; daughters, Beth Preston of Ardmore, Okla., Mary Lucille Wright of Jacksonville and Annie Fisher of Tacoma, Wa.; mother, Mary Nell Converse of Nederland; sisters, Katheryn Phillips of Nederland and Margaret Gideon of Cold Spring; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Melvina Herod Services for Melvina Herod, 96, of Jacksonville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rising Star Baptist Church. The Revs. K.B. Clater, R.M. Parson and Robert Christopher and Joe Bayonne will officiate. Burial will be at Jacksonville City Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Mrs. Herod died Sunday in Jacksonville. She was born Nov. 6, 1905, in Crockett and attended Crockett public schools. She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church and was a retired domestic. She served as president of the Missionary Society and the Usher Board and was a Bible teacher and usher. Mrs. Herod was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Albert Herod of Dallas; her niece she reared, Ruby Battle of Jacksonville; cousin, Lucy Nathaniel of Jacksonville; and several other nieces, nephews and other cousins. Pallbearers will be Johnny Battle, Aaron Session, Ladaron Session, Terry Roberts, Nathaniel Knowlton and Robert Nathaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Rising Star Baptist Church. Brenda Carol Sulser Services for Brenda Carol Sulser, 47, of Alto will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Alto, with the Rev. Bruce Mitchell and Dr. Randy Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be at the Old Palestine Cemetery under direction of O.T. Allen and Son Funeral Home in Alto. Mrs. Sulser died Wednesday in Tyler. She was born Oct. 8, 1954 in Nacogdoches, to Hubert H. and Sue (Farrow) Goodman. She lived all of her life in Cherokee County and the last 25 years in Alto, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the choir and also a Sunday school teacher. She worked as the secretary for the A. Frank Smith Methodist Church in Alto and had also worked as a substitute at Alto Public Schools and for the Alto Meals on Wheels program. She also worked as a volunteer at the Alto Mission Center. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Wayne Sulser of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Matthew Guldjord of Tennessee Colony and Bonnie Sue Sulser Soto of Alto; son, Jason D’Wayne Sulser of Alto; parents, Hubert and Sue Goodman of Ponta; brothers, Gary Don Goodman of Ponta, Ronnie Wayne Goodman of Tyler, and Steve and Christine Goodman of Tulsa; and four grandchildren. Brenda’s son, Jason, and the men of the First Baptist Church choir will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pearl Brown Services for Pearl Brown, 80, of Maydelle will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Maydelle First Baptist Church. The Revs. Lester Foreman and James Blaylock will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mrs. Brown died Wednesday at a Palestine hospital. She was born June 14, 1922, in Wellington. She was a resident of Maydelle for 24 years and had formerly lived in Pasadena and Pampa. She was a retired secretary for Hydrall Tool Co. in Pasadena and was a member of Maydelle First Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Brown. Survivors include her son, Fred Thompson Jr. of Maydelle; step-daughter, Cindy Wilson of Fredericksburg; sister, Maxine Manning of Pampa; numerous grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be C.B. Daniels, Don Crawford, Johnny McGregor, Yulan McGregor, Bucky Foreman and Cody Roach. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. |
