Three members of the Blinn College volleyball team have been named to the All Region 14 first team, while two were named to the second team and one was given honorable mention. Blinn also has the top player and setter in the region.
Middle blocker Haley Thomas; setter Megan Loftis and outside hitter Hayley Ball were selected to the first team. Second team honors went to libero Suzanne Childress and middle blocker Emily Gordon, while outside hitter Sabrina Daniel was given honorable mention.
Thomas, a 6-2 sophomore from Jewett who has already signed with Baylor University, was also named Region 14 Player of the Year. She has 304 kills, averaging 3.0 kills per game, and her 190 blocks ranks her fourth in the nation, averaging 1.9 per game.
Thomas is Blinn’s third Region 14 Player of the Year under Coach David Rehr. Chelsea Johnson was named in 2003 and Renee Johnson in 2005.
Loftis, a 5-9 sophomore from Cedar Park, was named Region 14 Setter of the Year. With a total of 1,158 assists on the season she is averaging 11.7 per game.
Ball, a 5-9 freshman from Houston Stratford, leads the team in kills with 419, averaging 4.029 per game. She also leads the team in aces with 77.
Childress, a 5-10 sophomore from Katy, leads the team in digs with 436, averaging 4.275 per game. Gordon, 6-0 sophomore who has signed with Central Arkansas, is averaging 1.83 kills a game and 1.1 blocks per game. Daniel, a 5-9 freshman from Limeira, Brazil, is second on the team in kills with 311, averaging 3.11 per game.
